WebPutty Announces General Availability of the WebPutty Application Platform 7.0
Features Support for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and Rational XDE Integration
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 14, 2003 - WebPutty, Inc., a leading provider of service-oriented architecture (SOA) tools and runtimes today announced the general availability of the WebPutty Application Platform 7.0, a unified development, integration, and maintenance platform for Web-enabled corporate applications.

The WebPutty Application Platform provides benefits across the application lifecycle, automating and optimizing applications both during development, and throughout the maintenance and upgrade cycle. The WebPutty Application Platform consists of two components: the WebPutty Developer Studio and the WebPutty Server.
The WebPutty Developer Studio features provides a single, common environment for both n-tier and service-oriented development. It augments existing IDEs and modeling tools with next-generation automation, integration and SOA functionality. New features in version 7.0 include:
- Integration with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and Rational XDE enables developers to move seamlessly between code, service, and model-based development
- Unified n-tier development environment enables developers to work at all tiers of an application, including database, middle-tier, Web services, and Web UI
- Standards-based APIs for extendibility, enabling developers to move quickly between traditional development tools and the WebPutty Application Platform
Other key features in the WebPutty Developer Studio include:
- Embedded .NET design practices and automated best-practices implementation
- Automated integration, including full support for Web services, databases, and business objects; WebPutty automatically discovers assets and writes integration code, enabling developers to focus on adding functionality
- Integrated modeling gives developers advanced visualization tools, including entity relationship diagrams (ERDs), object models, n-tier dependency mapping and UI flows
The WebPutty Server automatically maintains, optimizes and upgrades applications once they have been deployed. The WebPutty Server extends Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, adding next-generation self-management and self-healing functionality to applications. Key features include:
- Advanced release management services, including menu-driven installation and hot upgrades to running applications
- Enterprise-class deployment architectures, including support for clustering, partitioning, session management, caching, connection pooling, and multi-server clustered deployments
- Automated maintenance and optimization, including automatic re-optimization of applications to support changes or upgrades in underlying databases or servers

The WebPutty Developer Studio is free. The WebPutty Server licenses are $35,000 per CPU.
